Linda Scarborough Keown serves Lakewood as the Music/Media Assistant. Linda is from Phenix City, but did not become a Christian until her early 20s. She later felt God’s call into full time ministry and then moved to Graceville, FL, to attend Baptist Bible Institute, now The Baptist College of FL. She served Newton Baptist Church, Newton, AL and Holland Creek Baptist Church, Phenix City, both as full time Minister of Music/Youth from the years of 1980 - 1986.
Linda and Charles married in 1987 and have 4 children. Their only daughter, Joy, is a professional cellist in Baton Rouge, LA and is co-owner of Grace Notes Music Studio there. She is married to Grant Bedillion who is a professional violist.
Their son Jon and his wife Kasey live in Phenix City, AL. Jon is a graduate of Columbia International University and works for Keown & Sons Painting. Kasey has a Masters Degree in Speech Therapy. Jon & Kasey have a 2 beautiful daughters...Ava born in April ‘16 and Eden born Jan '19. Jon plays viola and guitar.
Jes finished Columbus State University with a degree in Criminal Justice and now serves in the United States Coast Guard. He wed Elizabeth Hamilton, our former Pastor's daughter and they have 3 beautiful daughters...Raelynn born in Oct '18, Willa born in 2021 on Charles and Jes' birthdays, Feb 13, and Lucy born in May '23. He plays violin and a variety of sports.
J.D. is 24 and plays piano and guitar. He graduated from Calvary Christian in Columbus, GA and works for Keown & Sons Painting. Even though Linda and her 3 brothers were not active in church as they were growing up, two of her brothers are now pastors of Alabama churches, and her oldest brother is founder of MorningStar International Ministries.
