REVEALING ROMANS- The book of Romans was written by the Apostle Paul in Corinth to Roman believers (vs. 7), near the end of his third missionary journey, around 55-58AD. Rome, the capital city, was the greatest and most important city of the Roman Empire. It’s estimated that Rome had a population of as many as one million people in the time of Paul’s writing. The Roman Empire was a mixture of Roman citizens, the ‘peregrini’ (free inhabitants), and millions of slaves. Rome was also a hotbed for Christian persecution at this time, where it was dangerous to be a Christian. Paul, himself, would one day (60s AD) be executed in Rome for his faith. The preeminent themes of Romans are the grace that the Gospel affords all believers, with the righteousness that can only come through Jesus Christ, and the establishment of guiding doctrines to strengthen their faith. Join us as by God’s grace, we reveal the book of Romans.
